Phillies’ 2023 Schedule Includes Games Against Every American League Teams
Major League Baseball has released the 2023 schedules of all 30 teams, and right off the top, the Phillies will be facing an uncommon opponent.
For the second season in a row, the team will open against an American League foe. The Mariners will be in Texas to face the Rangers on March 30 to start their season. They will play three games against Texas then head to New York for three games against the Yankees, then to Philadelphia for their home opener against the Cincinnati Reds on April 6 at 3:05 p.m.
Inter-league play will now include a series against every American League team, not just one division.
Phillies fans will get to welcome Millville's Mike Trout back to Philadelphia from Aug 28-30 at Citizens Bank Park.
Another change to the 2023 schedule is the time. The Phillies' new start times on most weeknight games Monday through Thursday will now begin at 6:40 p.m. Friday games will start at 7:05 p.m.
“With the new schedule format, our fans are in for a lot of exciting baseball both at Citizens Bank Park and on our broadcasts,” said Phillies Senior Vice President of Ticket Operations & Projects John Weber in a press release. “As usual, our games will also feature a terrific promotional lineup, which we will reveal in the upcoming months.”
One other highlight of the 2023 slate has the Phillies heading up to Williamsport, Pa., to take on the Nationals in the 2023 MLB Little League Classic on Sunday, August 20, which will air nationally on ESPN’s “Sunday Night Baseball.”
