NJ Makes The Top 10 List Of Best States For Working Moms

Mother's Day is just around the corner - this coming weekend, to be exact.

In celebration, WalletHub has released the findings of their annual investigation into which states are the best and worst for women pulling double duty, working a nine-to-five AND full-time at that other job that they don't get paid for... mommy-ing.

Moms deserve the world, don't they? Especially after the last year and change we've had.... Alas, they're completely aware of the fact that motherhood is one of the most thankless jobs you can have. If you live somewhere that makes balancing mom life and work life easier, you're, no doubt, super grateful.

Do you even know whether or not you live in one of those states?

Good news for South Jersey moms! As it turns out, WalletHub reports that New Jersey is one of the best states in the country for mamas that also work full-time. Some of the factors that went in to determining the ranking include child care quality comparisons, the average of women's salaries compared to men, and parental leave time.

Overall, New Jersey takes the number 8 spot in the top 10 list for best and worst states for working moms to call home.

26th – Child-Care Costs
14th – Pediatricians per Capita
24th – Median Women’s Salary
5th – Parental-Leave Policy Score
21st – Avg. Length of Woman’s Work Week
8th – % of Single-Mom Families in Poverty

Using March 2019 data from the Social Security Administration, Stacker compiled a list of the most popular names in each of the 50 states and Washington D.C., according to their 2018 SSA rankings. The top five boy names and top five girl names are listed for each state, as well as the number of babies born in 2018 with that name.
