Hey, remember when Manny Machado signed the richest contract in baseball history? His record of $300 million for 10 years lasted just over a week until Bryce Harper signed a deal for $330 million over 13 years.

While those numbers are staggering, it's chump change compared to what the Angels just gave Mike Trout: a 12-year contract worth $426.5 million.

While lots of New Jerseyians were hoping Trout would end up in Philadelphia or New York (Yankees, obviously, not the Mets), they'll have to take consolation in the state Senate's proposal to name a stretch of Route 55 after the NJ native.

Trout was born in Vineland, and grew up in Millville, and Route 55 runs through both of them; it would have been the easiest path for fans to head to Citizens Bank Park had Trout come to the Phillies. Phils fans will have to settle for driving along the "Mike Trout Interchange" where Route 55 intersects with Route 47.

Sen. Bob Andrzejczak, D-1, sponsored the bill, we'll see if the state approves it.
