In the world of American politics, the Kennedy family have been treated as royalty because of their rich history in Washington, DC.  Today was the first look of the newest member of The Kennedy Clan as he appeared for the press in Galloway Township.

The Kennedy's have had someone in their family serve in the nation's capital for nearly 65 years.  From JFK who started as a Congressman in 1947, to the last link with Patrick who did not seek re-election to Congress in 2010.  Patrick is glowing as the proud father of his 1st son.  Owen was born on Sunday afternoon in Galloway Twp. (AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center) - coming into this world just under 7 pounds and 19 1/2 inches.  Joel Landau of The Press of Atlantic City got to talk to Patrick, who says "Owen is OK!  That's his initials - he'll be OK for life."

Owen's mom is doing well following his birth.  Amy Petitgout married Patrick just over a year ago, and Owen is their first child together.  Ms. Kennedy is a sixth-grade teacher at Northfield Community School.

"We wanted to thank AtlantiCare," Kennedy said to Landau earlier today. "They're a wonderful establishment."

Patrick Kennedy is in a new phase of his life as he has seen the loss of his father Ted Kennedy less than 3 years ago, is a recovering alcoholic, battles with bipolar disorder, and has battled depression in the past.  Today is a good day for the former Rhode Island congressman, and hopefully the joy of fatherhood will bring this Kennedy a great amount of peace and accomplishment.
