NYC Deemed Epicenter Of Monkeypox, New Jersey, We’re Next
I’ve had COVID twice. Everyone in my family has had it even though we are double vaxed and boosted. Somehow, after all of this pandemic nightmare, I can wrap my mind around COVID now. I try not to but if I get it, I get it. I know what it is for me now. However, when I hear the words Monkeypox, it sends chills down my spine and it is a bigger problem than you think.
This past Saturday our neighbors in NYC declared a public health emergency due to the rampant spread of the disease. New York City is now considered the epicenter for monkeypox.
If officials in New York City declaring a monkeypow public health emergency does not send shivers down your spine, you are stronger than me. Guys, this is bad. NYC is right next door and I'll bank on the fact that the Hudson is not wide enough to keep it over there.
Mayor Eric Adams and health Commissioner Ashwin Vasan are ordering health provisions be put into place to slow the spread. Doctors are wondering why the federal government has not declared monkeypox an emergency yet.
In addition to that, New York Gov. Kathy Hochul declared monkeypox an “imminent threat to public health.”
NYC already has about 1,400 active cases and it is spreading fast.
