New Jersey School to Be Renamed After President Barack Obama
The Jersey City school board has made moves to rename an elementary school in honor of the 44th president, Barack Obama.
For whatever reason, I thought this was pretty cool.
School 34 in Jersey City will be renamed after the president despite its renaming proposal being shut down initially.
According to NJ.com, some school board members preferred to rename the school after someone with local ties. But, after school staff and students spoke in favor of renaming the school, looks like School 34 is officially getting the name change!
The board is expected to finalize the name change at a meeting October 20th.
Oh, and if you're wondering what the official school name is (if it wasn't obvious already), it is: 'Barack Obama Elementary School.'
