New Jersey Movie Theaters Can Reopen on September 4th

New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy announced today that movie theaters in the Garden State can reopen starting Friday, September 4th, just in time for the holiday weekend.

The announcement came during Murphy's Monday press briefing. The measure extends to indoor performance venues has been lifted as well, according to Murphy's official Facebook page.

However, capacity for both movie theaters and indoor performance venues will be capped at 25 percent (or no more than 150 people), face masks will be required, social distancing must be in practice, and screenings will be limited.

Earlier Monday, Murphy gave the go-ahead for restaurants to resume indoor dining this week. Gyms can operate at limited capacity with safety measures in place starting tomorrow.

In a separate Facebook post, Murphy wrote, 'We’re able to take so many steps forward today because of the hard work millions of you have done to keep pushing down our health metrics.'
