Neptune Dog Owner Charged Cruetly As Dog Found Near Death
NEW JERSEY 101.5
The owner of a 10-month-old pit bull in Neptune found "near death" and its emaciated mother has been charged with six counts of animal cruelty.
The Star-Ledger says neighbors reported Dathan Thompson, 23, to the Red Bank Veterinary Hospital on Saturday; the hospital then contacted the Monmouth County SPCA.
Victor "Buddy" Amato, their chief law enforcement officer, removed the dogs from the home on Oxonia Avenue. The hospital treated Petite, the younger dog while veterinarians at the SCPA in Eatontown cared for Baby Girl, the mother.
“The pup was in really bad shape, it was near death and couldn’t even stand,” Amato told the Star-Ledger. “And the mother was emaciated and her collar was embedded in her neck.”
Thompson will be in court on November 21.
