Louis Tomlinson Dishes on His Fall Out With Zayn Malik: ‘It Never Got Better’
Louis Tomlinson has spoken out about his friendship with Zayn Malik.
According to the "Two of Us" singer, his friendship with his former One Direction bandmate took a major hit after Malik failed to show up to Tomlinson's 2016 X Factor UK performance of "Just Hold On," which was a tribute to his late mother Johannah Deakin, who had just died of Leukemia. Harry Styles, Liam Payne, and Niall Horan all attended the performance to show their support, but Malik was a no-show.
"Truthfully, [our relationship] never really got better," Tomlinson said on The Dan Wootton Interview podcast on Friday (Mar. 8). "I had a couple of calls with him after I lost my mum and all the boys had agreed to come to that performance and he didn’t show so that really bugged me."
He's still super grateful for the others, though, admitting he still gets goosebumps when he remembers the emotional night. “It was just seeing everyone there—Harry, Niall, and Liam—that was what I needed that night, that support.” But despite everything, Tomlinson said he hopes Malik is doing "alright."
Elsewhere in his interview, he was asked whether 1D will ever reunite. He said he's fully on board with the idea, but he doesn't know when it'll happen. “Honestly I'll be the first name on the team sheet, I'll be signing it straight away I tell you," he promised. "You feel like we’ve got a responsibility actually to come back to these people.”
