Landmark Galloway, NJ, Restaurant Announces it is Closing for Good
If you are looking to grab a terrific Italian meal in Galloway Township, your options will get a little smaller after this weekend.
According to a post on Facebook Thursday afternoon, Assaggio! Italian Restaurant and Wine Bar on the White Horse Pike will be permanently closing after their dinner service this Saturday.
A brief statement said, "We tried to navigate these challenging times without raising our prices; however, we can no longer weather these difficult times with rising costs and labor shortage [sic] we do not want to compromise on the excellence we continue to seek to provide you. I simply refuse to do that."
That restaurant at the corner of the White Horse Pike and Mannheim Avenue has been a local landmark for as long as anyone can remember. Prior to Assaggio!, Toni Cordivari operated the building as Tre Figlio for decades.
Mary Reyes, the owner of Assaggio!, told The Press of Atlantic City in 2015, "I worked for a construction company for 30 years in Atlantic City, and I was a customer at Tre Figlio for 20 years. So the previous owner (Toni Cordivari) was thinking about retiring, and we talked about it for a year, and then we finally came to terms, and I ended up owning it. Never in a million years did I think I would ever own a restaurant."
