Mark Ronson Talks Working On ‘Honest, Authentic’ Lady Gaga Album
Despite zero evidence that a new Lady Gaga album is anywhere near completion (seriously, where is her lead single?), she and several producers she's been working with maintain that the highly-anticipated LG5 is very much in the works. And while he failed to illuminate on the musical direction of the forthcoming LP, producer Mark Ronson did shed some light on working with Gaga in a new interview.
“She’s a muso at heart. She’s the happiest when she’s sitting at a piano, barking orders at a drummer,” he said in a recent interview with Charlie Rose for Bloomberg. “That side of her, I don’t think a lot of the world has seen. They’ve seen, you know, obviously the massive pop singles and dance numbers and stuff."
He continued, "It's really great to make this very honest, authentic, analog kind of record with her."
Whether that means Gaga's opting for more warm ballads (a la Cheek to Cheek, her jazz album with Tony Bennett) and ditching the kind of full-bodied pop tracks she's best known for remains to be seen, but judging by the other producers she's been spotted working with -- disco legend and Chic founder Nile Rodgers and longtime Gaga collaborator RedOne -- it seems unlikely. Hopefully we'll find out sooner than later.
