Kelly Clarkson Says She Lost ‘Millions’ Over Keeping Name Off Dr. Luke Collab
Kelly Clarkson's life might suck without you, but it's perfectly fine with Dr. Luke out of the picture.
Clarkson, who hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with 2009's "My Life Would Suck Without You," said in an interview with Z100 that she demanded her name disappear from the track's songwriting credits so that it didn't have to be featured next to Dr. Luke's.
Dr. Luke, of course, has been in the thick of a legal battle with Kesha, who accused him of sexual abuse. Clarkson has since come forth on a handful of occasions to defend Kesha, and share particularly unfavorable impressions of Luke.
"I was making a point to the people working with me, going, 'This is how much I don't want to do this,'" she said. "I don't care about the money. I don't care about, oh, 'You're going to be the most famous person ever if you do this.' That's not what holds weight in my life."
Clarkson added that she potentially lost out on "hundreds of thousands of dollars," if not "millions," for her choice, but she has absolutely no regrets.
"They brought up writing credit at the end," she went on. "They were like, 'Well, you changed the song.' And I was like, 'I don't want my name near his. I want to pretend this didn't happen in my life and I want to forget it.'"
Clarkson's previously claimed her label blackmailed her into working with Dr. Luke in spite of her many vocal protests.
