Williamstown, NJ, Man Arrested After Fight at Little League Field
A man from Williamstown was arrested last week following a physical altercation at a Little League field in Franklin Township.
Authorities say the incident happened last Tuesday night, June 6th, at the fields on Pennsylvania Avenue.
According to the Franklin Township Police Department, an investigation revealed that 30-year-old Dillon Smith of Williamstown punched a 44-year-old man from Franklinville in the face after a verbal argument over a call on the field during a major division playoff game.
After the fracas, Smith allegedly fled the scene but was taken into custody at his home in Williamstown.
He has been charged with fourth-degree simple assault.

Because the incident happened in front of children at a sporting event, the simple assault charge becomes a felony.
Smith was processed and lodged in the Salem County Correctional Facility pending a detention hearing.
The public is reminded that charges are accusations and all persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
