A Vineland man has been charged in connection to a fatal crash in Atlantic City back in 2021.

The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office says on Monday, 50-year-old Joseph J. Melini was charged with second-degree vehicular homicide.

According to authorities, on the night of October 30, 2021, Melini was involved in a crash in the 300 block of Delaware Avenue in Atlantic City while driving a 2005 Harley Davidson motorcycle.

A press release from the Atlantic City Police Department following the crash said "[a] motorcycle left the roadway ejecting both occupants."

Melini’s passenger, 36-year-old Naisha Peterson of Mays Landing, was pronounced dead at the scene as a result of the injuries she sustained.

Melini was seriously injured in the accident.

Subsequent investigation revealed Melini was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the motor vehicle crash.

This investigation was conducted by the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office's Crash Investigations Unit.

The public is reminded that charges are accusations and all persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
