Mercer County Man Sentenced on Fentanyl, Ghost Gun Charges
A Mercer County man is headed to prison on fentanyl and ghost gun-related crimes.
Charges and Guilty Plea
30-year-old Jaquan Picott of Trenton previously pleaded guilty in Trenton federal court to charges of possessing with intent to distribute a controlled substance and possessing ammunition by a convicted felon.
Earlier this week, he was sentenced to 190 and 180 months, respectively, on those charges, which will run concurrently.
Federal Investigation
Federal authorities say that in December 2022, the FBI, the ATF, and other law enforcement agencies began investigating Picott for drug trafficking and firearm activities.
Their work revealed that from December 2022 through April 2023, Picott sold approximately 450 grams of fentanyl, unserialized privately-manufactured firearms ("ghost guns"), and ammunition in Ocean and Mercer Counties.
On June 1st, 2023, Picott was arrested for his actions.
In December 2024, Picott absconded from pre-trial supervision, and on June 27th, 2025, he was arrested by the United States Marshals Service NY/NJ Regional Fugitive Task Force.
Prosecutor's Statement
Acting U.S. Attorney and Special Attorney Alina Habba said in a statement,
We will not tolerate drug traffickers who poison our community with fentanyl. This sentence reflects our commitment to holding accountable those who seek to flood our neighborhoods with deadly drugs. And if you run to avoid justice, know that we and our law enforcement partners will find you to face your fate.
