Bridge, Fishing Pier Closures Planned in Cape May County, NJ
Officials in Cape May County are alerting area residents to two public works-related projects.
Townsend's Inlet Bridge Closures Planned
Work on the Townsend's Inlet Bridge fender replacement project along Ocean Drive is scheduled to resume next week.
From Monday night, February 23rd, through early Friday morning, February 28th, the bridge will be closed to all traffic from 7 PM to 5 AM.
The county says that during these overnight closures, contractors will continue installing new foundation pilings under the bridge. These pilings form the framing system for the new fender system, which is designed to protect the bridge from vessel impacts and enhance long-term structural durability.
For those driving between Sea Isle City and Avalon, a detour will direct you to use Avalon Boulevard or Sea Isle Boulevard to access Route 9.
Ocean City-Longport Bridge Fishing Pier Closing
Further north, the fishing pier along the bridge between Longport and Ocean City, across from Dog Beach, will be temporarily closed to the public beginning Monday, March 2nd, for scheduled improvements and beautification. The pier is anticipated to reopen before Memorial Day.
County officials said, "The Ocean City Fishing Pier Improvement Project is intended to enhance safety, functionality, and the overall appearance of the facility for residents and visitors."
