State of NJ Comes Up Big for Atlantic City Airshow & UFC Events
Tuesday, March 19, 2024 was a very big day for Atlantic City.
Thanks to Governor Phil Murphy and the state of New Jersey.
Atlantic City has been lean in terms of big special events as of late.
That changed yesterday, when Governor Murphy’s leadership made it possible for two major special events to take place in Atlantic City.
Both special events are guaranteed winners.
First, on Friday, March 30, 2024, a UFC Fight Night will take place at Historic Atlantic City Boardwalk Hall.
This was only made possible when Governor Murphy green lighted $ 500,000 from the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority for the UFC fight card.
The money will come from the Coronavirus State Fiscal Recovery funds, as a part of the American Rescue Plan.
COVID-19 dramatically affected tourism and destination events in Atlantic City. This is a perfectly good use of these federal stimulus funds.
Governor Murphy also saved the 2024 Atlantic City Airshow (yesterday), which was within one day of being cancelled for the next two years (2024 & 2025).
Governor Murphy led a $ 300,000 funding stream from the South Jersey Transportation Authority.
Without this cash infusion, the Atlantic City Airshow may have faded away … because if it had shutdown for the next years … there’s no way to know if it ever would have been able to return.
Over the past 20 years, the Atlantic City Airshow has been the most successful mid-week airshow in American history.
This is the best in terms of how state government can effectively work with local government to make good things take place.
Indeed, yesterday was a very big day for Atlantic City, New Jersey, as two very big special events were made possible to happen.
Thank you Governor Murphy.
