Sheriff’s Letter To NJ Gov.; No Clemency For Attempted Cop Killer

We have learned about the existence of a letter written by Atlantic County Sheriff Joe O’Donoghue to New Jersey Governor Mikie Sherrill.

O’Donoghue has written the following in opposition of a Christopher Blank clemency:

The Atlantic County Sheriff's Office is expressing support for our fellow law enforcement officers by submitting a letter to Governor Sherrill opposing Christopher Blank's request for executive clemency through a commutation of sentence.

O’Donoghue Has Written The Following:

On July 13, 2006, Mr. Blank violently resisted arrest despite a lawful warrant issued for his apprehension. During the incident, he committed three counts of attempted murder, unlawfully possessed a firearm as a convicted felon, and disarmed a law enforcement officer, inflicting serious bodily injury. Mr. Blank fled and continued to pose a significant threat to the officers and community involved. He was found guilty on all thirteen charges. Since his imprisonment, Mr. Blank has shown no remorse for his actions. Instead of accepting responsibility, he has filed appeal after appeal, all of which have been thoroughly reviewed and justly denied. His sentence has withstood every level of legal scrutiny, reinforcing the validity and seriousness of his conviction, wrote O’Donoghue.
