Police: Egg Harbor City, NJ, Man Arrested After Absecon Home Invasion Spree
Authorities in Absecon say a man from Egg Harbor City is facing charges after a home invasion spree.
According to the Absecon Police Department, during the early morning hours of Wednesday, officers were called to locations on Showellton Avenue and Marlin Road where they discovered a man had allegedly entered an occupied home and attempted to gain entry into several others.
- Responding officers learned that a man attempted to force entry into a home on Showellton Avenue by smashing the storm door.
- After a failed attempt, the man fled and then entered a home on Marlin Road. Upon entry, he confronted the family inside. After a brief altercation with the homeowner, the man fled.
- He then attempted to force entry into another nearby home by kicking the front door.
The suspect, identified as 41-year-old Steven R. Hackett of Egg Harbor City, was eventually located and arrested without incident.
He has been charged with one count of burglary, two counts of criminal attempt burglary, and two counts of criminal mischief.
Hackett was lodged in the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
