Brigantine Business Burglary Leads to Arrest at Atlantic City Casino
- The Paisley Pelican in Brigantine was broken into on February 25th; a Pleasantville man has now been charged
A Pleasantville man is facing charges in Brigantine, and possibly other South Jersey towns, following a burglary at a business late last month.
The Brigantine Police Department said on February 25th, its officers were called to the Small World building at 1307 W. Brigantine Avenue for a report of a broken window in one of the storefronts.
When police arrived, they found a window at The Paisley Pelican broken. The owner, who arrived shortly thereafter, determined that money had been taken from a cash register.
Detectives obtained video surveillance footage of the suspect, who, officials said, was identified as 40-year-old Vito C. Anderson of Pleasantville. They also said they found evidence linking Anderson to other commercial burglaries in Atlantic, Cape May, and Ocean Counties.
This past Tuesday, a warrant was issued for his arrest, and on Thursday, Anderson was located at a casino in Atlantic City, where he was arrested without incident.
He is being held in the Atlantic County Justice Facility pending a detention hearing.
Anyone with information about these burglaries is asked to contact Det. Rao with the Brigantine Police Department at (609) 266-7600.
The public is reminded that charges are accusations and all persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
