NJ Lottery Player Finally Claims $1.4 Million Jackpot
A lot of people think when you hit the lottery, you immediately claim the prize -- but that's not always the case.
When you go from living on an average salary to suddenly having a huge check coming your way, you certainly want to get your financial ducks in a row and have some good advice and planning.
With that in mind, officials with the New Jersey Lottery said the winner of the April 20th Jersey Cash 5 jackpot of just over $1.4 million has finally claimed their prize.
That person, who remained anonymous, apparently only played the lottery when there was a jackpot of at least a million bucks.
When that person drove past a mini-mart in Bergen County, they saw a lottery sign advertising a $1.4 million prize, so he or she decided to stop and buy a ticket.
The next day, that person noticed the jackpot sign had reset, so they decided to check their numbers.
It's same to assume some screaming then followed.
After signing the back of the ticket, the player took a selfie with the ticket in hand as further proof of the win.
It's also probably safe to assume that picture wasn't posted on social media.
In a statement, the New Jersey Lottery said,
This player who always had a sense of luck knew that one day they might just win the lottery – and this was that day! As we always say – Anything can happen in Jersey.
Perhaps with that winning jackpot, that person can look at a house in one of these Jersey Shore towns...
