A woman from Mays Landing has been indicted for allegedly murdering her husband on Christmas Day.

The Atlantic City Prosecutor's Office says 51-year-old Marylue Wigglesworth is facing murder and weapon-related charges in connection to the death of 57-year-old David Wigglesworth, also of Mays Landing.

On December 25, 2022, at approximately 10:19 p.m., the Township of Hamilton Police Department responded to a residence on the 5200 block of Mays Landing Somers Point Rd., for an injured male. Officers arrived to find the man, later identified as David B. Wigglesworth suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

The Southern Regional Medical Examiner’s Office completed an autopsy of David Wigglesworth and determined his cause of death to be a single gunshot wound and the manner of death was deemed a homicide.

Feared for her life

Wigglesworth’s attorneys, Jonathan Diego and Melissa Rosenblum, previously argued that she has been overcharged. They say she was a victim of physical abuse and acted in self-defense. They also contend that she feared for her life.

Political past

Dave Wigglesworth ran with Bruce Strigh for Hamilton Township Committee in 2012. This was the same election that then incumbent Deputy Mayor Charles Cain and Harvey Kesselman both opted not to run for re-election.

The public is reminded that charges are accusations and all persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
