Mays Landing, NJ, man pleads guilty to murdering his mother
A Mays Landing man has admitted to murdering his mother earlier this year.
Sean Daly of Mays Landing, NJ, pleads guilty
On Friday, 53-year-old Sean Daly pleaded guilty to first-degree murder and now potentially faces 30 years behind bars without the possibility of parole.
On the morning of March 20th, 2024, officers with the Hamilton Township Police Department were called to 6313 Quinn Avenue in Mays Landing following a report of an assault between Daly and his mother, 74-year-old Melba Daly, also from Mays Landing.
At the scene, cops located Melba Daly dead from multiple stab wounds.
During an interview with members of the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office, Sean Daly confessed to killing his mother.
Daly's sentencing is scheduled for October 11th.
Arrested in 2015 for stabbing his mother
Daly was charged in 2015 after he stabbed his mother multiple times, according to NJ.com.
During the early morning hours of March 3rd of that year, Melba Daly, "was found stabbed multiple times in the upper body at a home in the Harding Lakes section of town."
In that incident, he was charged with attempted murder.
