It’s a tragedy that is presently unfolding in real time in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

Something must be done and real fast.

2024 could not be off to a worse start for Atlantic City, New Jersey.

The new year was not even hours old and the first two murders were recorded.

This would be followed by two more murders before the end of the first week of 2024.

As we reported first yesterday in a breaking news report, the 5th murder of 2024 took place, when a man was shot in the throat and killed at 119 North Virginia Avenue.

Atlantic City has faced a violent murder (on average) once every 4 days during January, 2024.

It’s obviously unacceptable and something must be done without further delay.

Atlantic City Mayor Marty Small has proven to be incapable of leading as the civilian director of public safety.

The city, neighboring communities and the entire state has been forced to standby and witness Small prioritize the hiring of ex-offenders … while not focusing on the root problem, which is the rampant violent crime that is occurring in Atlantic City on a regular basis.

The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office has taken charge as the lead law enforcement agency for all murders and major crimes in Atlantic City and all of Atlantic County.

They do an excellent job.

It would be a good idea to place Atlantic County Prosecutor Will Reynolds in charge of law enforcement in Atlantic City.

Atlantic City Police Chief Jim Sarkos reporting directly to Small is obviously not working.

Sarkos is competent … Small is not.

Why not have Sarkos report directly to Reynolds?

The current structure is failing abysmally.

What does Atlantic City have to lose?
