The New Jersey State Police troopers were told that the Hammonton Police Department contacted the Collings Lake Fire Department via radio.

However, it was an unauthorized person who responded by using the radio.

“The person on the radio transmission identified himself as Joseph Tomasello. During the time of the radio transmission, personnel from the fire department looked outside and saw a man standing near the truck with the radio before fleeing the scene,” said the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office.

“Police responded to the area of the truck and discovered a pair of jeans on the front seat. The next day, police located Tomasello in the area of Monroe Township. Tomasello admitted to removing his pants in the truck and making the unauthorized radio transmission. He was arrested on scene and subsequently detained following a detention hearing on February 10, 2026,” said the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office.
