Galloway, NJ, woman charged with 43 counts of animal neglect

A Galloway Township woman has been charged after officials investigated a case of animals living in inhumane conditions.

The Galloway Township Police Department says their humane law enforcement officers executed a search warrant at a home on the 300 block of Cresson Avenue on Monday, July 1st.

Inside the home, authorities say they rescued seven dogs and 29 cats; inside a freezer, they found two dead adult dogs, a dead adult cat, and four dead kittens.

The resident, 57-year-old Nancy Santos of Galloway, was placed in custody and charged with 43 counts of animal neglect. She was lodged in the Atlantic County Justice Facility pending a future court date.

Police Chief Richard D. Barber said in a social media post,

The Galloway Township Police Department remains committed to investigating any report of animal cruelty in our community. To honor this commitment, we recently trained two additional officers to serve in our HLEO Unit.
