Camden County Man Accused of Robbing McDonald’s in Berlin Twp., NJ
A Camden County man has been arrested in connection with a robbery at a McDonald's last week.
The Berlin Township Police Department said the incident unfolded just after 6:30 last Friday morning, February 13th, at the fast-food restaurant on Route 73.
Authorities said officers who were called to the scene learned that a masked suspect, later identified as 42-year-old William Alvarado, Jr., of West Berlin, entered the restaurant and demanded that the employees turn over cash.
They said during the robbery, Alvarado "kept his hands in his sweatshirt pocket, which led employees to believe that he was armed with a firearm," however, no weapon was actually shown.
After being given cash, he fled the scene.
Surveillance Video Leads to Arrest
Detectives were able to use surveillance video from multiple locations to track Alvarado from the restaurant to his vehicle and ultimately to his home in West Berlin, where he was taken into custody.
Alvarado has been charged with one count of second-degree robbery and he was remanded to the Camden County Correctional Facility pending court proceedings.
Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact Det. Michael Manning of the Camden County Prosecutor's Office at (856) 365-3246.
The public is reminded that charges are accusations and all persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
