ATV driver arrested in Atlantic City, NJ, after hitting gas meter: police
An Atlantic City man is facing charges after he allegedly crashed his ATV into a gas meter, causing a neighborhood to be evacuated.
The scene unfolded just before 8:00 Monday evening, August 26th, on the first block of North Morris Avenue.
The Atlantic City Police Department says their officers at the scene smelled natural gas and immediately began to evacuate the area.
Officers learned that 31-year-old Laron Wright of Atlantic City "was operating an ATV when he entered an alleyway and attempted to make a turn." That's when he lost control of his vehicle and hit a gas meter and a vehicle.

The Atlantic City Fire Department and South Jersey Gas responded to the scene. Residents were allowed back to their homes after nearly two hours.
Wright's ATV was seized by police and he has been charged with recklessly creating the risk of widespread injury/damage and disorderly conduct. He was released on a summons with a future court date.
The public is reminded that charges are accusations and all persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
