All Atlantic City High School Security Guards Called Out Sick Today
You've heard the expression “Blue Flu.”
We have confirmed that every single security guard who works at the Atlantic City High School has called out sick, today, Friday, November 14, 2025.
That Also Means That They Can’t Work Tonight’s Championship Football Game
The security guards typically work overtime at extra and co-curricular activities.
When a staff member calls out sick, they are ineligible to work overtime on the same day.
No Panic Is Required
Atlantic City has responded well to what could have been a crisis.
Mayor Marty Small has also addressed the matter. The Atlantic City Police Department is on the scene and will continue to assist during this serious staffing shortage.
They are adaquately handling the situation.
There Are 15 Security Guards
This does not include management employees Ernest Jubilee and Dwayne Daniels.
These two, along with other teachers are manning metal detectors and handling the functions that the security guards usually manage.
Tonight — Atlantic City High School vs. Kingsway High School Football Game
This is a very important NJSIAA Group 5 football game … obviously, with all of the Atlantic City High School security guards calling-out sick, it is a very untimely and unfortunate decision by the security staff members.
However, as previously mentioned, the school’s administration and the Atlantic City executive branch are prepared to fill any and all gaps.
Regarding The Security Staff
This “Blue Flu” on a championship game day is a very bad idea.
Negotiations are one thing and understandable … however, doing the right thing still matters.
Today’s “Blue Flu” action is wrong.
