Retired Deputy Atlantic City Police Chief Clarifies Endorsement
A retired Deputy Atlantic City, New Jersey Chief of Police has issued a clarification regarding her endorsement of an Atlantic County Sheriff candidate.
Bridget Pierce
Bridget Pierce has retired as Deputy Chief of the Atlantic City Police Department after 29 years of public service.
Pierce is a New Jersey Women in Law Enforcement Lifetime Achievement Award recipient.
On August 27, 2026, Pierce formally endorsed Sean Riggin for Atlantic County Sheriff.
Riggin is the Democrat Nominee, who is challenging incumbent Sheriff Joe O'Donoghue in the fast-approaching November 3, 2026 General Election.
Riggin announced on August 27, 2026 that "Bridget Pierce has agreed to join the Riggin for Sheriff campaign team."
Riggin also confirmed that should he win, Pierce will join his executive team.
Bridget Pierce Clarifies Her Endorsement of Riggin & Her Own Political Party Affiliation
I would like to respectfully clarify that I am a Republican, and I proudly agreed to join Sean Riggin's team. Sean knew my political affiliation when he approached me, but he recognized that experience, leadership, and a commitment to public service should matter more than party lines. His willingness to reach across the aisle speaks volumes about his character and his vision for the Sheriff's Office. He understands that public safety is not a Republican or Democratic issue. It is about serving and protecting every resident of Atlantic County, regardless of political affiliation. That is the kind of leadership I believe in, and that is why I agreed to be a part of his team, wrote Pierce on social media..
