Atlantic City, NJ Woman Has Car Crashes With Children Involved
The Atlantic City Police Department managed an incident on Saturday, July 6, 2024, involving a woman who took elaborate measures in an attempt to evade her vehicle being repossessed.
In the process, the woman struck multiple cars while fleeing the repo scene.
This is the official statement from the Atlantic City Police Department regarding this incident:
On July 4, 2024, at 1:34 PM, Officer Kenlyn Johnson responded to the 700 block of Maryland Avenue in reference to a dispute involving the repossession of a vehicle. Officer Johnson spoke with the registered owner of the vehicle, Taquanda Roberts, and the tow truck driver. Roberts was attempting to prevent her vehicle from being towed away.
This wasn’t the end of this bizarre incident.
As Atlantic City Police Officer Johnson was in the process of verifying Roberts’ information … Roberts went back into her car and sped away onto the sidewalk.
In the process, Roberts hit a parked car.
Roberts then pulled up to her children and ordered them into her vehicle according to the Atlantic City Police Department.
Officer Bryan Victoria-Garcia ordered Roberts to exit her vehicle. She refused and accelerated away with her children now in the car. While fleeing the scene, Roberts struck another vehicle occupied by a woman and her four children ranging in ages from one to 10. She fled the scene of that crash and was ultimately located by Detective Christopher Dodson. Roberts was arrested without incident, said the Atlantic City Police Department.
All vehicle occupants involved in the multiple crashes were treated at the scene by medical personnel.
ARRESTED: Taquanda Roberts, 32, of Atlantic City, New Jersey.
CHARGES: Endangering the welfare of a child, eluding, and criminal mischief.
Roberts was taken to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
