An Atlantic City man has been charged in connection to the death of a pedestrian on the White Horse Pike in Galloway Township last week.

The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office says on Tuesday, 61-year-old Darrell Dean was located and charged with second-degree leaving the scene of a fatal motor vehicle accident. After being processed, he was released on a summons.

Just before 8:00 on the night of Thursday, September 12th, the Galloway Township Police Department responded to the westbound side of Route 30 near Seventh Avenue for a fatal motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian.

The deceased victim was identified as 33-year-old Angeletta Sheppard from Barnegat.

According to authorities, it is alleged that Dean fled the crash scene before law enforcement arrived.

The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office's Crash Investigations Unit and the Galloway Township Police Department are cooperatively investigating this incident. Anyone with information is asked to call (609) 909-7800.

The public is reminded that charges are accusations and all persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
