Atlantic City Housing Board Chairman Said:
We appreciate HUD's concerns and thank their new leadership for taking these matters seriously," said ACHA Board Chairman Geoff Dorsey. "For decades, our residents have been told, We don't have the resources, and HUD won't let us act on items.' This has eroded their confidence in both ACHA and HUD. It's time to turn that corner. This support is urgently needed to restore their confidence. Let's continue our steps to progress and eliminate the insecurities our residents feel. Working with our Mayor and City Council, let's explore creative ways to meet the needs of our residents and meet the desired goals of HUD and ACHA. Collaboration is essential to deliver lasting improvements for residents, said Dorsey.
Dorsey Is A very Close Ally To Atlantic City Mayor Marty Small
Small is also closely aligned to board member Stephanie Marshall.
Both Dorsey and Marshall are close Small allies on the Atlantic City Council.
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) announced on July 21, 2025, that the Atlantic City Housing Authority is in substantial default.
HUD also advised the Atlantic City agency that they will be taking them over.
Atlantic City Housing Authority Also Said:
That the Atlantic City residents will not do well under a HUD takeover.
Many Atlantic City public housing residents have not had heat, hot water and have dealt with other problems for more than three years.
It is unserious for the Atlantic City Housing Authority to now say that the residents will not do well under a federal takeover.
