Atlantic City, NJ, Legend Posthumously Receives Deserved Honor

Frank Campo served Atlantic City, New Jersey, High School with distinction for more than 43 years. Campo passed away on May 4, 2024 at the age of 76 years old.

Once in a while, a person comes along who makes a difference. Their impact was so huge that they became as great as the endeavor in which they were involved. Such was the case with Frank Campo. His vision extended far beyond athletics. A teacher at heart, in his classroom - whether a gym or athletic field - he understood and taught the importance of education, family, and life in general. The legacy of Frank Campo is judged by his ultimate success in the many lives he touched And we are all the better for it.

The Frank Campo “Rock” is prominently located on the football — track stadium at Dr. Jack Eisenstein Stadium — in a can’t miss spot — directly in front of the United States flag pole.

Frank Campo’s wife (Karin) of 49 years, along with their children, grandchildren and other close family members and friends attended yesterday’s dedication ceremony.

Jay Hurley called it “one of the greatest ceremonies that I’ve ever attended.”

Both Superintendent Small and Principal Days-Chapman supported the placement of The Frank Campo “Rock” from the moment the idea was proposed.

“Hurley in the Morning” Charity Golf Open Has Established An Annual Frank Campo Award

In addition to this great skills challenge award in memory of Frank Campo — we have also established a Frank Campo Memorial Foursome — who play in our annual charity golf tournament as complimentary guests.

These two forms of Frank Campo recognition were first implemented at the June, 2024 charity event, just weeks after Frank Campo’s passing.

Today was the unveiling of the Frank Campo plaque next to the football field. It was a special day honoring a man who impacted countless lives, including mine.
Coach Campo was much more than an athletic director. As a student and later as a coach, he was one of the biggest mentors in my life. He gave me my first job in the stockroom at Atlantic City High School, helped me become a teacher, and ultimately hired me as a coach. He believed in me long before I ever believed in myself. His influence reached thousands of students, athletes, coaches, and educators. His legacy isn't measured by wins or titles, it's measured by the people he helped along the way. Coach Campo may be gone, but his impact will never be forgotten. Thank you for everything you did for me and for so many others.
