
22-year-old Arrested in Atlantic City, NJ, Woman’s Death
An Atlantic City resident has been arrested in connection with the death of a woman in the city this past weekend.
Suspect Charged With Aggravated Manslaughter
The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office says on Wednesday evening, 22-year-old Ceani Barnes of Atlantic City was charged with first-degree aggravated manslaughter in a case involving 34-year-old Christina Burdette.
Incident Details
On Saturday morning, October 11th, the Atlantic City Police Department responded to a home on the 2000 block of Sheridan Avenue for a report of an unresponsive woman.
At the scene, they found Burdette inside a residence where she was pronounced dead.
Cause of Death
The Southern Regional Medical Examiner's Office performed an autopsy on Burdette and determined the manner of death was homicide. The cause of death was "complications of multiple blunt force trauma injuries with chronic abuse."
Ongoing Investigation
This case is currently being investigated by the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office and the Atlantic City Police Department with help from the FBI, the Galloway Township Police Department, and the New Jersey Department of Labor & Workforce Development's Cyber Fraud Unit.
The prosecutor's office did not elaborate on exactly why the FBI and the NJDOL were involved in this case.
