A 73-year-old Moorestown man has been charged for allegedly killing his wife in their apartment.

Gerard Slavin of Moorestown, NJ, Charged With Murder

The Burlington County Prosecutor's Office says Gerard Slavin is facing first-degree murder and second-degree aggravated assault-strangulation charges.

According to authorities, an investigation began just before 3:00 Sunday afternoon when police were called to the Slavin’s residence in the Moorestowne Woods Apartment Homes on East Camden Avenue.

Upon arrival, officers from the Moorestown Township Police Department found the body of 73-year-old Linda Slavin in the couple’s bedroom.

Gerard Slavin was arrested without incident.

An autopsy performed by Burlington County Medical Examiner Dr. Ian Hood determined that Linda Slavin died from strangulation.

The investigation is being conducted by the Moorestown Police Departmentand the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office.

A possible motive for the killing was not released.

Slavin is being held in the Burlington County Jail in Mount Holly pending a detention hearing in Superior Court.

The public is reminded that charges are accusations and all persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
