Saquon Barkley to Jason Kelce: ‘you don’t have to watch’
Could new Eagles running back Saquan Barkley lure Jason Kelce out of retirement?
Barkley was a guest of the most recent edition of The New Heights podcast and let Kelce know he would like him back in 2024.
He made he recruiting pitch as Kelce admitted how much fun it will be to watch him this season.
"It's going to be so fun to watch," Kelce said.
Barkley responded quickly by saying, "you know, you don't have to watch."
Barkley was insinuating that Kelce can rejoin the team and play again instead of watching the team from his couch.
Barkley talled about how excited he was for a fresh start and how he can't wait to meet his new Eagles teammates.
"I'm like a kid in the candy store." Barkley explained.
What does Barkley bring to the Eagles?
Barkley, 27, totaled 1,242 yards from scrimmage and 10 touchdowns last season playing for the New York Giants.
Barkley can also catch the ball out of the backfield and gives the team a true three-down running back.
"We're obviously working on the ways we're going to use him," Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni said at the NFL owners meetings this week.
Who does Barkley replace?
Barkley will tale over for D'Andre Swift, who signed with the Chicago Bears for three-year, $24.5 million and includes $15.3 million guaranteed.
Last year Swift ran for a career best 1,049 yards and scored five touchdowns and added 39 receptions for 214 yards and one touchdown.
Who else do the Eagles have at running back?
In addition to Barkley, the team still has Kenny Gainwell, Tyrion Davis-Price and Lew Nichols.
Who replaces Jason Kelce?
That will most likely be Cam Jurgens, who is entering his third year. In 2023 he was the teams starting right guard, but will likely slide over to center.
