One of the biggest highlights for Philadelphia Sports Fans is the moment the Eagles won Super Bowl 52. The moment when that Hail Mary Pass by Patriots Quarterback Tom Brady hit the ground, all of the Eagles fandom celebrated like never before.
On Sunday, February 4th, 2018, Eagles fans saw Quarterback Nick Foles throw for 373 Passing Yards and Three Touchdowns to lead Philadelphia to win the Super Bowl. For his great game, Foles was awarded the Super Bowl LII MVP Award.
After 11 seasons playing in the NFL, the Quarterback who is a hero and legend in Philadelphia will be joining his former teammates Jason Kelce and Fletcher Cox in the fraternity of players who will walk away from the game as an Eagles.
What You Need To Know About Nick Foles' Retirement
In a video post on the social media platform X, Nick Foles officially announced his retirement from the NFL. In the 2 minutes and 24 seconds video, Foles would thank his family, the Eagles organization, NFL fans, his teammates, coaches, and his agents for their support over the years.
Foles was the 88th overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft and played the first three years of hs NFL career in Philadelphia. Before his legendary run that led the Eagles to win Super Bowl 52, Foles had a spectacular 2013 season in which he threw for 27 Touchdowns in 13 games and only had two interceptions.
The former Eagles Quarterback gave this special thank you to Eagles fans:
"Specifically, thank you to the Philadelphia Eagles fans. Thank you for all your support from 2012 when I was drafted to 2017 when I came back. You truly made playing in Philadelphia the most special experience of my football career."
In a Press Release from the Philadelphia Eagles, the organization announced that Nick Foles will be honored on Monday, September 16th at Lincoln Financial Field. This is the night of the Eagles' 2024 Season Home Opener against the Atlanta Falcons.
Philadelphia Eagles Chairman and CEO Jeffrey Lurie released the following statement about Foles retiring from the NFL as an Eagle:
“Nick Foles always carried himself with the utmost class and integrity, demonstrating through his actions, both on and off the field, what it meant to be a Philadelphia Eagle - He was the ultimate competitor, an inspiring teammate, a true representative of our city, and of course, a Super Bowl champion.
As important as he was under center, it was his positive demeanor, approachability, and kindness toward others that resonated with everyone and continues to speak to his great character. We congratulate the Foles family on Nick’s celebrated career and retirement.”
Six years after Foles last season playing in Philadelphia, he is still has the best career Passer Rating in Eagles History (93.2) and has the third-best completion percentage all-time in Philadelphia Franchise History (62.9).
Nick Foles played Five Seasons in Philadelphia, two stints as the Eagles Backup and Starting Quarterback. The 6'6" Quarterback from the University of Arizona also played for the Saint Louis Rams, the Kansas City Chiefs, the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Chicago Bears, and the Indianapolis Colts.
