Iconic Wonderland Pier Announces Final Day of Operation

The historic and iconic Ocean City amusement park, Gillian's Wonderland Pier, will run its rides one final time on Sunday, Oct. 13 from 1-6 p.m.

You can ride the rides on weekends from now until that final day, and then the park will close its doors forever, ending a run of 94 years at 600 Boardwalk.

The park is open Fridays from 6-9 p.m. Saturdays from 2-8 p.m. and Sundays from 1-6 p.m.

The park has 23 current rides, the most famous being the iconic Giant Wheel, which is one of the largest Ferris wheels on the East Coast.

Wonderland was opened in 1929 by David Gillian and has remained in the Gillian family ever since.  It was announced back on Aug. 9 that the park would be closing because of economic challenges according to the park's owner and mayor, Jay Gillian.

Mayor Gillian announced that the park was no longer his so he did not have information on what will take over in the future.

There have been some reports that the new owner of the building Eustace Mita, who owns the ICONA Resorts hotels, might tear down the iconic castle facade and build an ICONA hotel at the 600 Boardwalk location.

Mita has said he needs six months to decide what he might do with the iconic location.

Wonderland Piers closing leaves Playland as the lone amusement park on the iconic Ocean City boardwalk for the upcoming summer of 2025.
