New tailgating rules were supposed to go into effect this Sunday ahead of the Eagles game with the Rams at Lincoln Financial Field.

We all know how passionate Eagles fans are about the team, but they are equally as passionate about tailgating before the game begins.

What Were the Original Tailgating Rule Changes?

The new rules state that oversized vehicles will be directed to lot D and the upper part of lot N. If you have a pass for lot E or H, you can park there, but only in an assigned space and can no longer choose your own space.

The charge is now $200 for four spots and $100 for two additional spots, with a cap of six total spots.

The changes were made to improve traffic flow and maximize spaces in the lot.

"We're trying to really strike that balance between preserving our tailgating traditions,"  said Phil Laws of Comcast Spectacor, which heads the Sports Complex Parking Venture. We have room to accommodate everyone that needs to park down here."

Fan Pushback and Legal Action

Many fans pushed back on relocating to the new lots, after years of parking in the same places, partying with the same people.

However, longtime tailgaters came together to voice their displeasure with the new rules and restrictions, hiring an attorney to try to get the Eagles to drop the changes.

Before things got ugly, the two sides came to an agreement to at least work with each other and continue the lines of communication moving forward.

"We understand where they're coming from now, said Carmen Conti of the Philadelphia Tailgating Association. They sat down and explained it to us."

The Compromise: What Rules Apply This Sunday?

While tailgaters will still need to come to lots D and N, now, at least for the first hour, drop-offs of tailgating equipment, like coolers, tents, grills, and other supplies, will be allowed, something that was not permitted originally.

There is still the possibility of more changes coming; the situation is fluid.
