Eagles add Ennis Rakestraw in Daniel Jeremiah’s latest NFL Draft mock draft 2.0
We all know after the way the Philadelphia Eagles season ended that they need help on both sides of the football.
The team has needs at all three levels on the defense and has some key depth issues on offense. They could also use a running back with just Kenny Gainwell signed and could look to improve the No. 3 wide receiver spot and add more depth to their offensive line.
In NFL.com analyst Daniel Jeremiah’s first mock draft of the offseason, Philadelphia went with a player on the offensive side of the ball, taking Oklahoma offensive tackle Tyler Guyton at pick No. 22. However, in his latest mock draft 2.0, Jeremiah has Philadelphia focusing on the defensive side of the ball with its first-round pick in 2024.
In his latest mock draft 2.0, Philadelphia adds a player to their secondary, adding Missouri cornerback Ennis Rakestraw with the 22nd selection.
The Eagles have to address the pass defense this offseason. Rakestraw brings playmaking ability and toughness.
The 6-foot, 188-pounder is a big strong and physical corner who competes and can play press coverage.
NFL Draft analyst Lance Zierlein compared him to Tennessee Titans cornerback Roger McCreary, who was a second round pick in 2022 out of Auburn who is known for being a physical, athletic cornerback that is always being around the ball.
The Eagles cornerback room is in need of some youth on the outside with Darius Slay on the wrong side of 30 and James Bradberry coming off a down year. Nickle corner Avonte Maddox is in the final year of his deal, but has dealt with various injuries during his Eagles tenure and could also be replaced this season in the slot.
The NFL Draft begins Thursday, April 25 and you can listen on 97.3 ESPN.
