For an entertainment town like Atlantic City, any promotion that is able to put on a series of events deserves recognition. Many musicians, comedy shows, and sporting events have short runs in "America's Playground", but few entertainment properties can say they are approaching double-digit shows.

That is one of the reasons Boxing Insider Promotions deserves the appreciation and support of the South Jersey community. For Margate's Larry Goldberg, his upcoming event on Friday, November 13th will be his 9th boxing show inside Tropicana Showroom since 2024.

These are not top-heavy fight cards where you are "lucky" to see a couple of good fights; These are action-packed boxing events filled with fighters from New Jersey and New York:

"What happens with a lot of things in Atlantic City, they just sort of it just sort of stopped because the people who had bring in boxing, and look...A lot of them are, you know, fly by nights, one and done. - Boxing Insider Promotions wanted to make this a community event." Boxing Promoter Larry Goldberg explains to 973 ESPN South Jersey

"And, you know, we've given a ton of tickets out to the city of Atlantic City...we've given out tickets to the Atlantic City Police Athletic League, and I've hosted two of their amateur events (with the AC PAL). And like I said, this has been a local event, we've built this series around local fighters."

New Jersey Boxers get officially matched for fights in November

Several weeks after Boxing Insider Promotions announced their ninth event at Tropicana Atlantic City Showroom, we finally have matchups confirmed and sanctioned by the New Jersey Athletic Commission.

The main attraction on Friday, November 13th is the highly anticipated rematch between Undefeated Atlantic City Boxer Justin "Just In Time" Figueroa (14-0) and Puerto Rico's Luis Caraballo Ramos (8-10-1). The first fight back in March ended in a No Content after both fighters got tangled up at the end of the 3rd round, leading both men to fall awkwardly to the canvas.

Figueroa, who won the Junior NABF super welterweight championship belt in 2025, has not fought in his hometown since the No Contest in March, which is why he really wanted the rematch on Friday, November 13th.

"(The No Content finish) just really bothered me because I had him beat, and all the sacrifices (I made for that fight) and...the fight ended in a no contest. So the event was left with unanswered questions. You know, unfinished business, and there was there was no decision on what happened. So, that really bothered me that night. And I went home and sat in the shower for maybe an hour; My fiance's like 'What's going on?'" Figueroa told me when I spoke to him on 973 ESPN Radio South Jersey.

"(Most people) don't understand what it's like to sacrifice everything and then go in the ring and not leave with for not leave with what you came here. But God has mysterious ways of, you know, grooming you, and you know it wasn't a loss, but it was definitely a lesson and I can only learn from that."

Two more New Jersey fighters matched up for Friday, November 13th

In a press release from Boxing Insider Promotions, reports have been confirmed that two more New Jersey fighters have opponents for the event at Tropicana Showroom in Atlantic City next month:

*Manalapan Township Junior Featherweight John "Bodyshot" Leonardo (13-1-1) makes his return to Atlantic City to fight Kevin Nunez of Puerto Rico (6-4). Leonardo sustained an injury earlier this year that delayed his return to the ring. "Body Shot" is 4-0 fighting in Atlantic City, and is a crowd-favorite for his fighting style.

*Pleasantville High School Graduate Julio Sanchez III (5-1) will fight in his first 6-round boxing match with Skyler Bray from Ohio (3-3-1). The Super Lightweight Boxer is on a four-fight winning streak, and is undefeated as a professional fighter in Atlantic City.

There are also rising boxing stars from New York who will be traveling down the Garden State Parkway to fight at Tropicana Atlantic City on Friday, November 13th:

*Undefeated NABF Super Featherweight Champion Iman Lee (15-0-1) from Yonkers, New York, will fight Dannis Aguero Arias (20-6) from the Dominican Republic. Lee is the number five ranked Super Featherweight Fighter in the United States, and he will be making his Atlantic City debut next month.

*Juan José León Álvarez (11-3-1), originally from Spain, now trains at Mendez Boxing in Harlem will make his Atlantic City debut against Larry Fryers (13-8-1) from Albany, New York. JJ Alvarez has won 5 of his last 7 fights heading into this Welterweight fight against the veteran Fryers.

*Fighting out of The Bronx, George Arias (19-1-1) has one loss in the last six years heading into this Heavyweight showdown with veteran Virginia Boxer Joe Jones (16-15-2). Arias only professional loss was in 2023 when he fought for the WBO International Heavyweight championship.

"We are bringing one last show to the Trop this year, and we are stacking it with many of the best New Jersey and New York fighters," Margate's Larry Goldberg tells 973 ESPN South Jersey. "This (November 13th Boxing Event) reminds me of the shows in the 70s and 80s: It is all grit and for the love of the game. This is the kind of boxing your grandfather loved. Casino ballrooms, gritty club fighters fighting to get to the next level. Many of these fighters will move on to bigger shows in 2027."
