61 Charges in Horrifying Case Involving Former NJ School Aide

The expanding investigation into the sexual assault charges against Shaun Stebbins must be bringing horror to parents and students who had the misfortune to encounter him as a pre-kindergarten aide in South Jersey.

Stebbins is now facing 61 total charges after he allegedly filmed himself sexually assaulting multiple children inside Woodbine Elementary School, where he worked from 2022 until March of this year.

Stebbins' Previous Arrest

Shaun M. Stebbins, 44, of Somers Point, was previously arrested on March 29 on several charges, including aggravated sexual assault and child sex abuse material offenses in connection with allegations that he abused four children, who are siblings, over a span of several years.

On Friday, October 30th, the tragic case grew increasingly dark and awful as investigators discovered Stebbins allegedly took photos and video of children’s genitalia inside a school bathroom, according to court documents obtained by 6ABC.

Stebbins also allegedly filmed himself sexually assaulting children in the bathroom and during their scheduled nap time.

He has now been charged with 29 counts of manufacturing child pornography, five counts of aggravated sexual assault, 13 counts of sexual assault by sexual contact, and 14 counts of endangering the welfare of a child, according to Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey H. Sutherland.

“Children are among our most vulnerable population, and we have a responsibility to protect their safety and well-being. Anyone who harms a child will be held accountable through our justice system.”

 

Details on the First Case Against Stebbins

In April, Townsquare Media reported that Stebbins was first arrested in March and accused of sexually abusing four children, all siblings, in his Somers Point home for more than a decade.

Investigators said the allegations date back to 2012 and that the victims reported the abuse continued until 2025. New Jersey does not have a statute of limitations on reporting sexual abuse.

A now 14-year-old said that when he was 5 in 2014, he was shown pornographic videos in Stebbins' bedroom. The teen said the sexual assaults on him were recorded, officials said.

Another victim said Stebbins watched her as she showered through a hole in the floor.

The Woodbine School removed Stebbins from the classroom after his arrest in March.
