Stafford Township Police say they arrested two men Wednesday who stole a pair of vehicles from a Toms River car dealership.

Stafford Twp Police Alerted to Stolen Sloten Vehicle

Early Wednesday, Jan 17th, Stafford Twp Police responded to the report of a stolen 2021 Hyundai Tuscon with New Jersey plates driving on Rt. 72 East.

Police say when they arrived on the scene, they found the vehicle in the Exxon gas station parking lot with two men inside. The investigation found that the Hyundai had been stolen from Lester Glenn Hyundai in Toms River.

Stafford Police Arrested Two Suspected Car Thieves

Stafford Twp Police arrested Kevin C. Downes, 30, of Toms River, and Angel Perez, 21, of Toms River for the theft of the vehicle, and they were taken into custody.

Investigation Uncovers a Second Stolen Vehicle

The joint investigation by Stafford Twp Police and TomsRiver Police revealed that the two suspects had also stolen a white 2020 Hyundai and committed several other vehicle burglaries at Lester Glenn Hyundai in Toms River.

Charges Filed for the Theft of the Vehicles

In a release on Facebook, Stafford Twp Police say they recovered the stolen vehicles and returned them to their owners. Perez and Downes are facing charges for stealing the vehicles and other property and are being held in the Ocean County Jail awaiting a court appearance.
