Fred Wilson, a teacher at Egg Harbor Township High School accused of threatening President Donald Trump in a social media post, has submitted his resignation, effective at the end of the school year.

At Tuesday night's EHT Board of Education meeting, Wilson's resignation was unanimously approved, according to the Press of Atlantic City.

Board President Lou Bella Barca made a brief statement concerning the decision.

"We take comments about and suggestions of violence seriously. We took immediate action. We are working with outside agencies and have internally investigated the matter. Since this is a personnel matter under state law, we cannot comment further at this time."

The Press of Atlantic City's account of the meeting says there was no other mention of the decision by the board or those attending the meeting.

Wilson's Posts Garnered National Attention

Wilson allegedly wrote on Facebook, “I think we are at the moment where assassination is at least a talking point. The post has since been deleted.

Another of Wilson’s social media posts read, “F**k Trump and F**k You for Voting for Him.”

The post first came under scrutiny after a screenshot of his account was shared on the Libs of TikTok X account.
