EHT Police Hope Someone Recognizes These Catalytic Crooks [VIDEO]

The Egg Harbor Township Police Department has asked for help identifying two guys caught on video stealing armloads of catalytic converters recently.

This catalytic crook combo is wearing masks, and one of them has his head completely covered, so the EHT PD knows it's not an easy assignment to say definitively who they are.

But something tells the cops that this pair probably looks familiar to someone reading this article, and they hope you will quietly come forward and do the right thing and ID these catalytic criminals.

One of the guys has a pronounced limp. Watch the video of them in action below.

Chances are these two think they made such a nice score by stealing all these car parts from the rightful owners that they bragged about the crime to somebody.

What Are Catalytic Converters & Why Steal Them?

A catalytic converter is a vehicle emissions control device shaped like a small metal tank in a vehicle's exhaust system.

It uses a chemical reaction to turn toxic gases like carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxides into safer outputs like water vapor and carbon dioxide.

People steal them because they can sell them for scrap.

They contain rare precious metals -- platinum, palladium, and rhodium -- which can be sold to scrap dealers for fast cash.

Located underneath the car, making them simple to access. A thief with a battery-powered saw can cut one off in under two minutes.

They do not have serial numbers linking them to a specific car, making them easy to sell to shady scrap metal buyers.
