Man arrested after armed robbery at Dollar General in Absecon, NJ

A man has been arrested for an armed robbery at a discount store in Absecon Friday night.

The Absecon Police Department says the heist happened just before 8:30 at the Dollar General store on the White Horse Pike, across the street from ShopRite.

At the scene, officers were informed that a man entered the store, brandished a handgun, and threatened employees while demanding cash. The employees complied with the suspect's demands before he fled on foot.

Officers located a person matching the suspect's description in the area and initiated a foot pursuit. He was seen running through residential yards before being detained by cops.

The investigation remains active, therefore, police did not release the identity of the suspect.
