Some fall traditions just never get old! Every year, our family loves making a trip to Cape May for a unique adventure that gets us outside, enjoying the beautiful scenery and making memories together. And if you haven't tried this one yet, you're missing out on something really special!

A Fall Tradition Worth Trying

I'm talking about the rail bikes in Cape May! If you've never heard of them, imagine hopping aboard a specially designed bike that travels along railroad tracks. You pedal your way through the scenery, taking in the sights at a much slower pace than your usual day out.

I'll admit, I always thought these would be hard to pedal. I pictured myself huffing and puffing my way down the tracks! But guess what? They're actually surprisingly easy to pedal, making the experience even more enjoyable.

Beautiful Scenery and a Little Adventure

Fall is such a wonderful time to go. The cooler air, colorful leaves and peaceful surroundings make this a perfect way to spend an autumn day. You get to enjoy nature, share some laughs and do something a little different from the usual weekend activities.

The Cape May route takes you alongside the beautiful Garrett Family Preserve, with native wildflowers, birds and lovely open scenery to enjoy along the way. It's a four-mile round trip that takes about an hour and a half.

Add This to Your Fall Bucket List!

Whether you're planning a family outing, a date or a day trip with friends, put Cape May rail biking on your list. It's become an annual tradition for us, and I can honestly say it's one I look forward to every year.

Sometimes the best adventures are the ones you don't have to travel far to find!

LOOK: How Halloween has changed in the past 100 years

Stacker compiled a list of ways that Halloween has changed over the last 100 years, from how we celebrate it on the day to the costumes we wear trick-or-treating. We’ve included events, inventions, and trends that changed the ways that Halloween was celebrated over time. Many of these traditions were phased out over time. But just like fake blood in a carpet, every bit of Halloween’s history left an impression we can see traces of today.
