There are many aspects of life in New Jersey that might make you question how high the average IQ in the state is, and I've experienced a number of them myself during my personal New Jersey resident journey.
While I think the average Garden State resident is generally a smart person, the place I question it the most, is on the state's roads.
The things I have seen, and I'm sure you have too, may be the most obvious doubt we'd have about the state's average IQ.
What Is New Jersey's IQ Rank?
It's not just the roads, either. We have all seen bad choices by Garden State residents in many aspects of life. If you need another example, just watch some parents at their kids' soccer or baseball game.
Having said that, I still feel confident that the overall New Jersey IQ numbers are going to be high, and a recent report backs that belief.
World Population Review has released a list of the highest IQ states in America, and if you were hoping you and your fellow New Jersey residents would be celebrated as a top 10 state, you're about to be disappointed.
New Jersey Is Not A Top 10 IQ State
The Garden State has been ranked as the state with the 12th - highest IQ in America. Not bad, but not what we might have hoped for.

The state with the highest IQ in America is Massachusetts, with an average IQ of 104.3. The state with the lowest IQ is Mississippi, with 94.2, while the Garden State comes in at 102.8.
The average American has an IQ of 98.0, so it's safe to say that New Jersey residents are smarter than the average American, and that's something.
