We do a lot of things very well in New Jersey. It just happens that pronouncing certain words is not one of them.

The funny thing is most New Jersey residents either don't care about the pronunciation, think it's right, or even embrace the wrongness.

The Words We Mispronounce In New Jersey

New Jersey residents also enjoy starting a day with a piping hot cup of coffee, or as we refer to it, "caw-fee".

Here are some of the town names that get butchered, mostly by visitors to New Jersey, but sometimes a resident stumbles on them.

There's Avon-by-the-Sea, with a short "a" not a long one. Forked River is FOR-kid, and it's not Manala "pan", it's Manala "pin".

And remember, if you hear someone pronouncing something wrong, pull them on the side and "tawk" to them.
